What we do and why

The moral, political and economic inconsistencies of the capitalist system, that many artists had already been denouncing over the last decades, had turned out to be of a substantial nature and extremely difficult to solve.

The structures of our societies and the dominant values, not the lack of talent and goodwill, are to blame for our impotence to deal with poverty, climate disaster and all forms discrimination.

Transforming with Poetry is a global publication and a digital amplifier for critical and editorially alternative poetry.

We hold monthly events in which the principle of openness applies. We aim to include a wide range of poets, languages, modes and forms of creation as well as artistic motivations. After 5 years based at Inkwell Leeds, we started a new journey in January 2020 at the University of Leeds.

Critical poetry belongs to everyone and is naturally plural. In that spirit, we have chosen artistic distinctiveness and the explicit search for social justice and freedom, both at local and global levels, as the two main criteria for publishing work.
